Title: Proteomics and Metagenomics of Saliva in Psychological Stress.
Presenters: D. PAUDEL, Y. KURAMITSU, O. UEHARA, T. MORIKAWA, K. YOSHIDA, Y. ABIKO.
This study shows the effect of psychological stress on salivary proteins and oral bacteria. In the saliva of rats subjected to chronic psychological stress, changes were observed in the expression of proteins that induce oral candidiasis and regulate bitter taste sensation. The study also suggests that the changes in the oral bacteria due to psychological stress may cause chronic inflammation of oral mucosa. These findings are thought to contribute to the understanding of pathophysiology of oral mucosal diseases and psychosomatic dental disorders, where psychological stress is involved in the onset and exacerbation of these diseases.

With this award, we are the first university in the field of clinical oral pathology to receive all three awards sponsored by JADR.
