On 18 September 2026, the School of Dentistry at Health Sciences University of Hokkaido (HSUH) held a joint symposium with its partner university, Hasanuddin University, Indonesia.

 

The symposium opened with remarks by Dr Erni Marlina, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at Hasanuddin University, Prof. Yasushi Furuichi, Special Assistant to the President of HSUH, and Prof. Shuichi Ito, Dean of the School of Dentistry at HSUH. Faculty members from both universities presented their research and engaged in lively discussions. The symposium concluded with remarks by Prof. Irfan Sugianto, former Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at Hasanuddin University.

 

Academic exchange between the two universities continues through various programmes. HSUH hosted undergraduate students from Hasanuddin University for a student exchange programme from 27 July to 7 August 2026 and will welcome prosthodontics residents from 26 to 30 October. The symposium was also supported by Dr. Dedy Ariwansa, a Hasanuddin University alumnus and Postdoctoral Fellow at HSUH, and Dr. Taufik Abdullah Mappa, also a Hasanuddin University alumnus who is currently at HSUH under the Dual PhD programme.

 

The symposium provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen academic collaboration and further develop educational and research exchanges.
